To some, when they hear the word Christmas, they think of its history and the birth of Jesus. To others, they think of their friends and family. But, to the little people in this world, the children, they think of presents, presents and more presents. To some of these children though, children just like us, they wake up to a very a different experience. They may very well wake up to look at happy, smiling children, playing in the snow, admiring their newest present while they haven’t received any. For these kids, receiving a present on Christmas is probably out of the question. In fact, they may never have received one in their life, looking at the condition they’re in. Some may not have families, friends or people that care for them. Many don’t have shelter, food or clean water. They have nothing and we have everything! Yet, some people don’t even care enough to help. Don’t be one of them.

You don’t have to do something big, you can help in your community, in your school. The Cushman Middle School organized a toy drive for children in Haiti as well as a gift card collection for children in our community. Bring something in. Make a difference. Show your Christmas spirit. You are the person that could make a child like yourself smile again. You have the power to give someone a Merry Christmas! The drive ends tomorrow. But that doesn’t mean that kindness should end! So come on, what are you waiting for, there’s someone out there that needs your help.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and never forget how lucky you are!

My God, what a strong and concise message! It hit me like a train in the middle of the chest! It is amazing to see someone who has such great feelings for other people, for those who don’t have access to all we take for granted! It shows a great person with profound empathy and deep rooted values. I feel nothing but admiration for every one of your words! It is only at Cushman that we have the opportunity to foster this kind of children, the makers of the best possible future for mankind! Keep studying hard so you can some day lead everyone with your shining aura!
