Hey Cougars! Do you like Broadway shows? If you do, then you might know who Lin Manuel Miranda is. Lin Manuel Miranda is an outstanding man who was born on January 16, 1980, in New York City, New York. He is Puerto Rican and he grew up in a Hispanic neighborhood in Manhattan.

As a kid, Miranda loved listening to music and melodies. His first Broadway show was Les Misérables. It inspired him. In 2002, he graduated from Wesleyan University in Connecticut and began a journey into the world of acting, singing, and musical theater. His first Broadway musical was In the Heights in 2005. He also wrote Bring It On: The Musical in 2011. Then, he wrote 21 Chump Street in 2014. Finally, he wrote Hamilton in 2016 and has continued to achieve success since then.

In 2016, he cast Daveed Diggs as Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson, he cast Phillipa Soo as Eliza Schuyler, he cast Renée Elise Goldsberry as Angelica Schuyler. He also cast Jasmine Cephas Jones as Peggy Schuyler, he cast Leslie Odom Jr. as Aaron Burr, and he cast himself as Alexander Hamilton. Today, there are many casts of “Hamilton” and people are buying up tickets to sold-out shows.

After achieving acclaim as Hamilton, Lin Manuel was not in the play any longer, along with his fellow original cast mates. But now, he is Alexander Hamilton again in Puerto Rico. During the first performance in Puerto Rico, Miranda had a speech and at the end, he pulled out the Puerto Rican flag. His parents are from Puerto Rico.
