Happy Thanksgiving!
“Thanksgiving is more than eating, Chuck. We should just be thankful for being together.” – Marcie ~ “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving”
A thankful deed is something we all need! Give thanks to all the people who love and care for you day after day this November 28th!
November 27, 2019
It’s one day a year. One, just one. But it shouldn’t be just one day. We should be grateful every day. We should care every day. We should give thanks every day. Not just one.
Why should we have to wait until the 28th of November every year to give thanks? Why postpone it? Why wait 365 days until you can be grateful again? No, this should not be happening. Giving thanks should be something we do every day. Not just one.
Really, no matter how you put it, you are lucky. Sure, you have problems of your own. Sure, you’re sad some days. That’s normal. But you have a family, a home, friends, food, and an incredible school! You have this privilege, and this opportunity. So, use it! Be grateful for it!
There are some people in the world who have no mother or father. There are some without a home. Some without a school. No water? No food? It’s not uncommon.
When you think of it, you likely come home to a family, in a comfortable house or apartment that is nicely furnished. You have food, as much water as you need, you may even be part of an after-school activity or sport that you play. Later, you have a bed to sleep in. You have everything you need.
So why do we celebrate Thanksgiving? Why just one day a year? Well, when you celebrate Thanksgiving, you are thanking your family, your friends, and all the people that care about you. You’re grateful for all the things you have the privilege of having day after day. When you celebrate Thanksgiving, you’re appreciating. There is no real reason that Thanksgiving is just one day a year. Maybe it’s because if Thanksgiving were every day of the year, there would be no celebration! There would be no way to commemorate and celebrate that one very special day of the year.
The point is there’s no changing the fact that Thanksgiving is one day a year. There’s no changing the fact that most people only think of being thankful one day a year. However, we can at least try to change our attitudes. This Thanksgiving be more grateful for who and what you have than ever. Spread the good energy! Be positive! Thank all the people who play a part in your life for being there! Remember that there are children out there who have nothing, who are your age, younger, and older, as well as adults, who likewise, are alone. You are not alone. You will never be alone. There are people who love you and will do anything for you. You will always be protected. Remember that.
And without further ado, on behalf of every member in the Cushman Chronicle Crew, Happy Thanksgiving! We hope your day is filled with love, joy, and thanks!

I am going to read this to my class of 4 and 5 year olds. I think they have the chance to start early on having the habit of reflecting on gratitude. It will change the way they develop and look at life. Good job Jasmin.

Right on, Jasmin! Gratitude is a practice we all need to incorporate into our everyday lives. I am grateful for you, your classmates, our beautiful school and the time we spend together every day. We each make each other richer. Thanks, Jazi!!!!!

Jasmin, as usual, you have delivered your point beautifully! What you wrote was so true. Your writings serve as a constant reminder that there is good in the world and that we must all do what we can to bring about that good. You have helped us remember how privileged we all are and that is something none of us should take for granted. Thank you Jasmin for always serving as an example to others and for your kindness to all. Happy Thanksgiving!
