A Message from Mr. P
To You... Chronicle Crew!
May 17, 2020
Dear Chronicle Crew,
Wow… what a semester! Never in our wildest dreams did we imagine events would unfold as they have. It’s a good lesson for any journalist that what you least believe may happen, actually might. It’s also not a bad lesson in life. More importantly, however, is how we respond to these unexpected twists of fate. And that is what moves me to write this to all of you.
At the beginning of this adventure, right after spring break, so many of you were asking me to keep the Chronicle going. Even before we knew there would be electives, you were getting together, on your own, committed to keeping the Chronicle alive. Frankly, that was pretty amazing and inspiring… at least for me.
Great things happen when people are inspired to make them happen… even if it’s not required. You guys have expressed that spirit from the start. Most any teacher will tell you that they love and appreciate all of their students, and it’s true. But, they will also tell you that every once in a while you’ll get a group that’s special, a group whose chemistry and commitment to themselves and to each other really shows. For me, you have been that group.
You may not know how many of you reach out to me every day about the Chronicle and your articles, but you do.
Today, when there is so much in the world to be skeptical about, you all remind me that there is so much to be hopeful about. You are filled with so much optimism, curiosity, commitment and love. You have brightened my days and influenced so many of our readers. To me, you are all rock stars.
So, with that, thank you… from the top of my brain to the bottom of my heart.
Your teacher forever…
