Bianca and Lola

¡Buenos diasCougars! We interviewed one of the two marvelous Spanish teachers, Señora Becker, looking to find the answers to the questions I’ve been wanting to discover. Here’s what she has to say:

Me: So, what schools did you attend?

Señora Becker: I attended various universities, and some are University of Villadolid, where I studied Language and Cultures. I got my Master’s Degree at University of Nebia Madrid. After that, I went to London to study English at Westminster University. If I kept listing them for you, you’d fall asleep!

Me: Hahaha! Okay, so where did you live after school? I hear you went to some very exotic places…

Señora Becker: Yes! After school, I was raised in Spain until I was 21, and after I went to live in England for school. After that, I went to Germany. I loved it there, but I wanted something more exotic. So, I went to South Africa. I eventually moved here, and I’ve been a traveler ever since. It’s my passion, besides teaching, of course!

Me: So, do you have kids? And what does your husband do?

Señora Becker: I have one boy, Ricardo, who went to Cushman and is now a senior at Miami Country Day. Oh, and my husband works in the television industry.

Me: Cool! What about pets?

Señora Becker: I have two rescue labs: Lola and Bianca. Lola’s a black lab, and she’s the naughtiest. Bianca’s white and she’s really sweet.

Me: Aww! So cute! I love animals, don’t you?

Senora Becker: Yes! I am a huge environmentalist. I live on the water, so I feed all the fish that come by. I call them my pets. But now, less and less fish come, and that’s thanks to Climate Change. I also notice that there’s less and less butterflies and pelicans, and I want to change that.

Me: Wow! That’s so amazing. Do you have any hobbies?

Señora Becker: Yeah, I do, actually. One, of course, is traveling. Another is watching movies, the other is volunteering at environmental charities. And the last one, my favorite, teaching!

Me: Yes! Speaking of, when you were little, did you ever imagine that you would end up at Cushman?

Señora Becker: No, I didn’t. I always thought I’d be a vet, and in some ways, I am, but when I was about to graduate high school, my biology teachers suggested it, and now I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world!

Me: Amazing! Well, this has been great! Thank you!

Señora Becker: ¡Claro! You’re welcome!

So, Cougars, there you have it! Señora Becker uncovered. She’s much more than a Spanish teacher: She’s a friend. ¡Adios, Cougars!!

¡Hola! Señora Becker!

Luna! Great article about Senora Becker- she’s one of the best “room mates” I’ve ever had! I say that because we teach in the same building and she lets me borrow everything of hers. 🙂 I think you captured her passion and sense of humor beautifully!
