Hey, Cougars!! We all know Thanksgiving (and the break that goes with it) is right around the corner. But what Thanksgiving looks like to you, may look different to someone else. Think of the smell of turkey, cranberries, and pumpkin wafting through the house. It’s like that everywhere, right? Wrong! There are so many different traditions that come here from around the world, and you may not realize it. For example, in Cuba, they kill and roast a pig, or lechon and have tostoneswhich are fried bananasIn China, they have a three- day feast in which they eat “mooncakes’’, which are custard and jam filled pastries to celebrate the lunar cycle and good harvest. In Argentina, they have an asadowhich is barbecued skirt steak. In Ghana, they have a yam festival. And there are so many more. So, if you don’t like turkey or stuffing, go to a Chinese bakery and get mooncakes. If you don’t like cranberry sauce, go get some tostones. Ask your friends, you may be surprised what they eat! Bye, Cougars!
